Prepaid Telular SX6 - Low Cost Community Service Payphone
The Telular SX6 is a low cost GSM desktop phone.
Blueroom has successfully customized the phone for the local market to implement a community
services payphone.
This was achieved through a colaborative effort between the original equipment manufacturer, distributors DuPont Telecomunications and Blueroom Projects. Through this project, thousands of SX6 phones have been distributed in South Africa and other African countries.
The embedded software on the GSM device has been enhanced to provide the additional functionality of a payphone. The ARM7 core of the TTP based GSM module has been reprogrammed, demonstrating a deep understanding of the hardware, software and GSM network protocol facets.
